When sewing and twisting these fragments, which already have a history previous to her contact, Gomes synthesizes in her organic structures the memory of the material itself up against the racial and emotional issues encrusted in the identity of the Brazilian being which are magnified by the hand and gesture of an artist of African descendence with strong indigenous cultural influence.
